Finished in 1987, it was thoughtlessly painted over by some idiot one day in 2006. (LA Times)

White Lines

Beverly Hills. the awesome endpapers of Eliot Elisofon's The Hollywood Style, 1969.
We were going to use this as the basis for a huge room divider (2" deep roads, the red being cut away), but it turned out to be too difficult to sand the edges smooth enough for a lacquer finish.
It's still on the back burner....

Always on the lookout for interesting, hippie, handmade, design-y pottery, this fit the bill on all counts.
It was only after picking it up we saw the name Katzer.

Above, Elaine Katzer on the kick wheel in 1962, from here, which looks like it's going to be an awesome show. And below, slightly more impressive than our bowl is her giant stoneware work "Sea Chanty" (1976), from the book California Design...
In fact, this may be my new favorite thing .

Actually it's a goat, hangin' out on the back of this Lopez Designs stoneware planter from 1975. This is perhaps the coolest piece of pottery I've seen in a while- so Southern California-70's. Look at that logotype!
